First Nations Wellbeing and Governance
First Nations peoples come from many culturally and demographically diverse backgrounds, each with different lived experiences of Australia’s ongoing colonial context. First Nations societies tend to be more collective based than western society and many First Nations peoples place emphasis on personal wellbeing as being associated to the wellbeing of family and community and to the wellbeing of country than merely on personal attributes.
When working with First Nations people and communities it is paramount that First Nations perspectives and voices are at the forefront of all stages of the work from inception through to dissemination. This requires non-indigenous researchers, organisations and service providers to consider how they may need to work differently when working with First Nations peoples and communities.
The First Nations platform will contain resources to assist researchers in undertaking culturally responsive research with First Nations peoples and communities.
Thank you for your patience as we continue to work on these platform resources.
There are many ways people with lived experience can actively contribute to the MAGNET team and to clinical trials research in mental health now. These include one-off participation to surveys and ongoing commitments.
